I took my first picture with a professional camera just over a year ago today. Since then I have taken 1000s of photos at many events. Some photos have been great, many photos not so great, but every one a chance to learn. I've made many mistakes and still continue to but am constantly learning and refining my skills.

When I started, I was overwhelmed by all the settings on the camera. Sticking to full auto was my go to option. This worked for a while, but after a couple sporting events proved ineffective at capturing the motion. I then started to use some of the semi manual modes and now at times use full manual mode too. My best piece of advice for learning these settings is try them out. Take the same picture with different modes and settings and compare the output. As much theory can be studies, practice is what teaches the most.

My favourite part of taking photos is the positive reactions from people when they see their photos. It warms my heart when people love the photos, share them with friends and post to social media.

This week I finally decided to take photography to the next level. I started a brand, Instagram and this website. It comes after doing photography at Reading Hindu Society Diwali Ball 2024. This was the first time I had people evaluating my previous work to decide whether to request me to cover their event.

I am looking forward to this next step in my photography journey. I have invested in some studio lights and backdrops and can't wait to put it into use.
